i. Status assessments
The Short-tailed Albatross was assessed as Threatened by Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) in 2003 and listed in Canada as Threatened by Species at Risk Act ( SARA Schedule 1) in 2005. A Recovery Team was formed in 2006 (Chair: Ken Morgan, Canadian Wildlife Service). The short-tailed albatross and pink-footed shearwater are included in a single strategy, with recovery goals that are both shared by and unique to each species. COSEWIC assessed the Black-footed Albatross as Special Concern in 2007. This species was added to the Species at Risk Act (SARA), Schedule 1 in 2009.
