North Pacific Albatross Working Group (NPAWG)

The North Pacific Albatross Working Group was formed in 2000 in Honolulu, Hawai'i, during a meeting sponsored by the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council and National Marine Fisheries Service. The focus of the working group is the conservation of the three North Pacific albatross species: black-footed, Laysan and short-tailed albatross. Everyone interested in albatross conservation is encouraged to join the listservice and attend meetings. The North Pacific Albatross Working Group meets annually, usually in association with the annual meeting of the Pacific Seabird Group.

NPAWG Charter

Goal: To improve albatross conservation in the North Pacific through enhanced communication and coordination for protection, management, monitoring, outreach, and research activities both nationally and internationally.
